MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS – VARIOUS APPROACHES TO TREATMENT – A CASE HISTORY SPEAKS FOR ITSELF
Posted by adminSome years ago, when I was still operating a clinic, one of my patients was serving in the armed forces. He had consulted a neurologist and was given little hope of improvement. This diagnosis shattered the man’s interest in life. One of his colleagues noticed his state of mind and asked him to consult me. We accepted the patient and gave him both treatments outlined above. About three months later we discharged him and I can still see the young man’s happy face when he, for the first time, was able to walk with feeling in his feet.
During the course of his illness the patient described how the feeling in the nerves was returning. He noticed that it returned in the same sequence in which he had lost it in the limbs. Shortly after going home he had to surrender his military equipment and the army doctors were most surprised to see him do this personally. They asked him about the treatment he had received and one of the younger doctors was rather disparaging when he heard of it, but another doctor present, an older man, spoke up in defence of the treatment on the basis of the obvious results. The young man was very happy when he told us about the incident later on.
